Teaching RSHE with A Fertile Heart
Welcome to A Fertile Heart. Our goal is to make RSHE accessible to all teachers, no matter what their background or experience. In September 2020 it became compulsory for RSHE to be taught at a primary and secondary level, but the standard lessons laid out by the Government do not necessarily align with what the Catholic Church or Catholic parents would teach. That is why we created A Fertile Heart.
As well as educating and shaping the lives of young people, it was important for us to create an RSE program that was easy to understand and teach, with plenty of resources to help teachers navigate these subjects.
Our RSHE lesson plans are provided with supporting materials to make teachers and tutors feel confident in their ability to teach life skills to young people. From our workbooks to digital slides, a helpline to FAQs, we understand that this may be new to you as a teacher or as an education leader, you can also request sample RSHE lessons and tutorials for extra peace of mind.
Through the years, we teach what it means to be a good person, right through to sexual desire and developing a relationship with God. Our key principles are woven throughout each year group, but our lessons are age-appropriate with sex education being taught in years 10 and 11.
Our primary RSHE education focuses on learning what it means to be ‘YOU’ and about the different people in your life, whether that be family or friendships. Secondary RSHE education naturally moves on to the deeper subjects, where we teach about being a well-rounded human, appropriate vulnerability, using social media and smartphones consciously, as well as bullying and tolerance. We deliver our lessons from Reception right through primary and secondary school to year 11.
The goal of all our lessons is to help create well-rounded humans with a strong sense of self, equipped with the knowledge to go out into the world and make a positive impact.
We have a variety of accessible teaching resources available to bring A Fertile Heart into your school. Contact us to find out more or visit our store to see our pricing structures and order a sample pack of books.
